WS-I Publishes Japanese Translation of Attachments Profile

TOKYO, November 29, 2004 — The Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I) today announced the availability of the Japanese translation of the WS-I Attachments Profile 1.0, which provides guidelines on adding attachments to SOAP messages.  The translation is available at the WS-I Website at http://www.ws-i.org.

The Attachments Profile provides interoperability guidelines for developing Web services in accordance with the SOAP Messages with Attachments (SwA) specification. SwA defines a MIME multipart/related structure for packaging attachments with SOAP messages.  The original, English version of the Attachments Profile 1.0 was formally approved by the WS-I member community as Final Material in August, 2004 and is also available as a free download at the WS-I Website at http://www.ws-i.org.

“The Attachments Profile enables Web services developers to create attachment-enabled applications with predictable interoperability,” said Tom Glover, Chairman of WS-I,  “Our publication of the Japanese translation of the profile is an important part of WS-I’s worldwide effort to promote the creation of reliably interoperable Web services.”

The Japanese translation of the Attachments Profile 1.0 was prepared by the WS-I Japan Special Interest Group (Japan SIG).  The Japan SIG’s other activities have included the Japanese translation of the Basic Profile 1.0, the localization of the WS-I Test Tools and the verification of their proper operation in the Japanese environment.  The Japan SIG has also verified that the WS-I Sample Application for the Basic Profile can run in the Japanese environment.
